It's the new year....

Generally the new year means lots of resolutions. And it also means those resolutions in relation to a career. Over the years I've learned that a blend of drive and patience is really the best. But it took me a number of years to begin to live in that way!

I think it is difficult to keep focused on a goal. I was reading some materials for a graduate class which affirmed my impression that most people seek to manage their careers when something isn't working right. That may mean a conflict at work, or in roles, or the conclusion of a role (retirement). But something has to happen to push a person to action.
